Join The Arc of Winnebago, Boone & Ogle Counties on Friday, July 31, 2026, for a fun and meaningful evening celebrating Disability Pride Month through teamwork, connection, and community support. Gather your friends, family, coworkers, or neighbors and compete in a lively puzzle challenge while helping create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community.

Disability Pride Month is celebrated each July to recognize the history, achievements, experiences, and contributions of people with disabilities. July was chosen to coincide with the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which was signed into law on July 26, 1990, marking a landmark in civil rights for individuals with disabilities. It is a time to promote inclusion, challenge stereotypes, and raise awareness about the importance of equal opportunities and accessibility for all. Disability Pride reminds us that every person deserves to be valued, respected, and included in their community.

Awareness matters because many individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities still face barriers to employment, recreation, education, transportation, and social connections. Community support helps organizations like The Arc continue providing programs, advocacy, creative opportunities, and inclusive experiences that empower individuals and families every day.

Your participation supports programs and services that encourage independence, friendship, creativity, and meaningful engagement for individuals with disabilities throughout Winnebago, Boone, and Ogle Counties.
