The Next Chapter Book Club
This is a group where those with developmental disabilities enjoy a group where reading and having fun is the goal. They read and discuss a book of the groups choosing. Any reading level is welcome. Staff members of the ARC of Winnebago, Boone, and Ogle counties facilitate the group.
The 2002 Book Club began in Ohio by parents, professionals, students, and people with disabilities. A group of 5-8 individuals and two volunteers will meet in a location of their choosing to read aloud and discuss a book for one hour. Reading is not required. You can sit, listen, and join in discussion. The club gives you a chance to be in the community and socialize.
